1933 MILLIKEN M-1 SPECIAL (Original)

In 1927, inspired by Lindbergh’s flight, 16 year-old William F. Milliken began designing an airplane which evolved into a parasol monoplane with a motorcycle engine. Finally, in 1933, Milliken took the M-1 to Old Orchard Beach for tests. It flew, but landing took three attempts ending when the M-1 flipped over on its back. Encouraged by this flight, he went on to a long aeronautical and automotive career.
