The Winter 2007 Workshops & Lecture Series covers a wide range of topics, including an introduction to stick & tissue model airplane making for children, a lecture on the development of roads in the Midcoast area and a hands-on water-powered-rocket making workshop.

The series is part of OHTM's Education 2007 initiative, funded by a grant from the MBNA Foundation and The 1772 Foundation.

January 13 ~ Alfred Snow

Local artist and historian Margaret McCrea discusses the history of Thomaston built, three-masted schooner Alfred D. Snow.

January 27 ~ Vintage Auto Racing

Rosey Gerry presents on the rapidly growing hobby of Vintage Auto Racing. If you fondly remember, or regret never having seen dirt track racing, Rosey will give you the dirt.

February 24 ~ Energy 101 (tentative)

What is energy? Museum volunteer Jim Westervelt explains in lay terms what energy is and how it relates to transportation and our everyday lives.

March 10 ~ Lombard Log Haulers (tentative)

Bill Lynch, of the Maine Forest and Logging Museum addresses the history of the Lombard Log Hauler and the restoration project at his Museum.

March 24 ~ Ford's Village Industries

University of Maine history professor, Howard Segal, presents from his recent book addressing Ford's unique Village Industries approach to auto production.

April 7 ~ Introduction to Boomerangs

Join us in this exciting exploration of boomerangs, both in history and construction. Participants will each build a working wooden boomerang.
Space is limited, advanced registration is required.

April 21 ~ The Stanley Steamer

Presenting from his book of the same title, author Kit Foster will present on Maine legends, Freelan and Francis Stanley and their unforgettable automobiles.
