Workshop Classes can be scheduled in conjunction with a tour or can stand alone. They last approximately one hour. The Museum provides all of the materials needed for each of the two workshop classes it is now offering.Principles of Flight: Introduces students to the control surfaces of an airplane and how those surfaces effect the airplane's performance. Explore the forces that allow an airplane to break the bonds of earth and stay aloft, and discover how a propeller provides the power to move an airplane. This scientific look at flight can be modified to meet the needs of students of all ages. Paper Airplane Workshop: A graphic demonstration of many of the Principles of Flight. This workshop can stand alone, or it can accompany the Principles of Flight workshop. Students create and fly their own paper flying wings (these are not your everyday paper airplanes!) Experimentation, observation, and comparison are prominent in this fun and engaging workshop. To schedule a Workshop Class and/or a Guided Tour, e-mail Ethan Yankura, the Museum's Education Director, or call him at 207-594-4418. |
