All-wheel steering is a not new development. Here it is on the creation of comb-maker Joseph Noyes of Binghamton, New York. Built entirely by hand, it uses thread spools for pedals, three small wagon wheels, forged iron frame, and a seat carved from a block of wood. Notice that the rear wheels do turn in response to the steering. Mr. Noyes rode the tricycle daily to his tortoise-shell comb factory near Rockbottom Bridge. Accession no. 1994L11 |
