The Owls Head Transportation Museum

now has an exciting year-round consignment program called “Barn Fresh.” This program allows the Museum to accept consigned vehicles, boats, aircraft and engines year-round – not just for the annual August Auto Auction – and has been very successful for consignors and for the Museum. The program includes not only antique automobiles and automobilia, but motorcycles, bicycles, aircraft and carriages plus technological collectibles including engines of all types (steam, gas, hot-air, and full size), toys, models and related memorabilia.

As a virtual (online) extension of the Museum Store, the Barn Fresh program promotes consignments that may be located globally. A new, dedicated Gallery area within the Museum provides display space for some of the vehicles and items offered. While many items in the Barn Fresh program will be on display at the Museum, gaining additional exposure from over 50,000 annual visitors, many vehicles/items have and will be offered online only, with no transportation to the Museum required.

Vehicles and items may either be consigned or specifically donated to benefit the Museum. Proceeds from commissions and sales benefit the Museum’s collections, programs and services. All vehicles and items consigned or donated are first reviewed by the Museum’s Collections Committee for potential acquisition for the core collection.

Each August the Museum also holds a consignment Auction of Antique, Classic and Special Interest Automobiles and vehicles. Many Barn Fresh vehicles will be placed in the Auction while others will remain as consignments to Barn Fresh.
